If one makes a business decision to NOT provide custom gift wrapping and card, what sort of impact (generally) do you think this will have? (product is clothing).

Obviously this is going to hurt holiday (nov/dec) sales.

Charge a dollar or two (or whatever makes sense) for this feature or offer it for free for orders over a certain amount (take your average order and say 20% above that..) to increase your per order revenue.

We have never offered gift wrapping on any products, including some clothing.
I can count the requests since 1998 on 2 hands.

I don't see it as that much of a deal breaker.

conard,

That's good news. But at the same time maybe people abonded their shopping cart if they didn't see the option, I mean its a possibility hehe.

I would say that if you're worried about losing sales, then offer it as an option and see how many people are actually interested in it. If you're not going to offer it under any circumstances, then don't waste your time worrying about if you're losing sales because of it.

I've been buying online for over 8 years, and I can't remember ever ordering gift wrapping. Perhaps once, because it was free, but it certainly wouldn't have been a show stopper for me.

Google "gift wrapping in e-commerce" for other opinions.
