Hi,
Our sales confirmation and general customer emails often get labeled as spam by the bigger free and paid email service providers.

Wondered if anyone here has rectified this problem in the past.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have an SPF record? Go to www.dnsstuff.com - in the middle column, first row, enter the IP address that the mails come from. Make sure it is not on any spam list.

And then go to [dnsstuff.com...] to test for an SPF record.

If you are using HTML, you might consider plain text.

Thanks Corey. We are looking at SPF records now.

We have them and sometimes all it takes is just a very simple one to get through.

And make sure that if you use your www server IP to send out email - that that one is listed. Sometimes, the www server's IP is on there. Do some testing to yourself and look at your headers.

For the SPF records, it might take a few hours for them to take effect (just like DNS propogation).

We saw an improvment in delivery to Microsoft/MSN/Hotmail through their JMRPP program.

I posted here about my issue:
[webmasterworld.com...]
And Corey Bryant suggested that I check this thread.

Not sure if this thread is related or not. I did look into the SPF stuff but it's beyond my knowledge. Assuming that I'm just a guy with a domain that's having deliverability issues to hotmail what should I do? I don't understand the stuff that I found at opensef<dot>org.

I kind of understand what SPF is supposed to do but I don't know if it's something I should do, and then even if it is I don't know how to answer the questions that it asks and I don't want to screw things up worse.

I appreciate any advice with this.
