weird customer email addresses

Has anyone else come across people entering their email address as [e-mail]?

I've now seen this 3 times (out of around 75 customers). The first time it looked like someone just checking out our site (maybe a rival - I know I go look at their sites), but its happened twice in the last 2 weeks.

Difference is - both of these completed the checkout and paid. The 'welcome' emails bounced.

For the third one, I resent the email without the 'www.' without a bounce.

I'm wondering if this is just a common mistake that new web users make. Seen anything like this?

I've seen that many times. Those are the clueless users. The type that enters site address into search engine to open the site.

You should also get a lot of people who enter their email as just "somename" with no "@domain.com" They're usually AOL users.

My mother would be one of those users - she still can't tell the difference between the Web and email and tells everyone her email address starts www.

many times people use such kind of address to impress others that they have www in it

But wait, if you are talking about the dot, that type of email can exist...when I went to college, my email was like this:

They're usually AOL users - very true! made me laugh.

You can have a dot dividing up teh first and last nbame but ive never come across an email address that starts www.

Unless the parents were sadistic and called the kid that....... Parent 1 ' hey love you seen www?' parent2 'No honey I think he's done a 404 on us'
