Relationship between advertising and traffic

How does traffic effect advertising dollars

Hello - I am working on a marketing plan for my website right now.
I am trying to better understand what sort of traffic has earned what kind of advertising revenues in the past.

In other words if I was recieving 10k hits a day what level of dollar amounts might I reasonably sell banner space for?

Clearly another factor just as important as traffic volume is traffic type... 18 - 30 year old males with a >40k income living in metro areas are likely more valuable to many companies than say, children or the elderly.
That's a generic example but you get my drift.

Has anyone ever seen a resource or a study that explores this topic in more detail?
Or does anyone have personal experience from their own projects?
I doubt there is any specific breakdown analysis for free out there, but you never know...

Yes, I am trying to borrow money and I'm trying to forecast a revenue model, but heck I am also sincerely curious about this subject...!

Much thanks!

Hi DarkDirk

Your question suggests to me that you are extremely new to the web scene.

You talk about selling banner space to companies

you talk about borrowing money for this purpose

might I strongly suggest that you spend at least 2 months reading the posts here, and the achives

Then research

Adsense

YPN

Affiliate marketing

I once thought in the direction you seem to be an its amazing how fast your budget can vanish if you business model is based on misunderstood techniques,,

Just think of the many internet companies that came an went in the dot.com bubble

Hello Darkdirk,

I would recommend you to have a look at iprospect, it is in principle an Internet Marketing agency I think, but they do give away a lot of privileged information! and they have a good newsletter it is worth to subscribe with..

Hope this helps, let me know if it was useful
Best

Thanks for the shot pepe!
Going over these guys white paper their company focus is on seo.
What i am looking for is analysis regarding the stages after a successful (or not) marketing campaign however. Unfortunately this type of historical data is by and large confidential.
BtW vite_rts, Your response suggests to me that you are quick to condesend towards others.
Research adsense...ure funny.

You might be looking at the wrong thing - do you want HITS, or do you want SALES?

They are not the same thing. In fact far from it.

And if you are trying to sell banner space (lottsa luck there..), I don't think this belongs in ecommerce.
