I have a possible client who is a teacher, she'll be retiring in a few years, and rather than junk all of the course work she's developed she wants to sell it online, so teachers can download and print it.

What is required for something like this? I'm new to "small business" ecommerce, the only experience I have doing ecommerce is on a large scale, where upfront costs of doing business were of little consequence because sales were 'guaranteed' to turn a profit.

My biggest concern is an affordable ecomm payment method, that won't cost an arm and a leg if she doesn't get many sales.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks,
--Gibbs

How will she get the traffic? Search? Word of mouth? Advertising? How many different products and categories?

Paypal doesn't have an operating cost , unless you sell make sales, then they take their cut from each sale,

I haven't worked with paypal...does it supply an api that you can work with? So that I can verify payment is received automatically, and release the download to them instantly, or will it require a manual process?
