Multiple sites/server

Hi, I am sure this has been asked before but I have not found anything, so here goes...

I would like to build multiple web stores - say 10-20, all pulling off the same database, on the same server, the idea is more must be better - right?

So would more be better? - would it lead to a better search ranking if they were all linked?

Take care not to duplicate content. Generally those who succeed with similar techniques use seperate hosts. 20 sites selling (assumption?) the same products, linking to one another, and showing the same IP will be suspect. 00.02¢
