Authorize net down again

Does anyone have a monitor that can check their status. It would be nice if I can change my cart settings to accept the order without authorizing if they are down, and then authorize later. If I build my own script, what would be good fields to check for without affecting any transactions.

It would be nice to have a script that just accepts the order if authorize net doesn't respond. I don't think it would be too hard. Right now when we see authorize net down we manually switch our cart to just accept all orders then we go back and manually enter in the cards. It looks like we had problems for 2.5 hours last night. This is the 2nd outage in the last month for us. I just hope everything is smooth when christmas comes around.

dang it. i wondered why orders were down so much last two days. looks like a couple of "black holes" of time in which no cc's were authorized.

too bad there's not a chargeback system to use on these guys and the cc companies. give them a taste of their own rx.

I tried contacting the help line to see if I could get any help on querying for the proper fields to develop a script to see if they are up, but they were of absolute no help at all. I'd love to switch to another vendor, but haven't found anyone with lower rates unfortunately.

If your AIM connection fails or they return any HTTP status code other than 200, they (or your network) are down. Otherwise the gateway is up.

In unscheduled outages we see connections fail or time out most of the time, and sometimes HTTP status 503 with a message like "Our servers are currently too busy to handle your request. Please wait a minute and resubmit. Thank you." In scheduled downtime it's usually just failed connections.

If you wanted to send in a harmless ping to see if the gateway is back online I suppose you could send a authorization request with x_Test_Request set to TRUE.

how long were they down, and when? we use them, too, but haven't actively paid attention to downtime.
