How long does it take to get noticed via a relevancy search?

Please advise.

Hi! My website went live at the beginning of June, almost 2 months ago. I've created links, I've registered with Yahoo, bought Google Ad words, etc., but when I check to see if my site comes up on a search, even when I enter my exact site name, I am not in the top 500 relevancy matches. Of course, my paid ads show up off to the sides, but that's not my concern. How long does it take for the major search engines to "notice" a new website?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld

Do you have incoming links to yor site from other sites? Having a number of those, especially from fairly high ranking sites, will help your cause considerably.

Beyond that there is a phenomenon many are calling the "sandbox effect" that seems to delay some sites from appearing in the search results. I have not experienced this effect, but I have only put up one new site in the past year.

I would suggest reviewing the libraries in relevant forums here at WebmasterWorld, and asking lots of questions.

Thanks for your reply. I searched the library for the "sandbox effect" and read a 1- page post on the subject. While it was quite illuminating, it was from 2004. I'm sure there have been a lot of changes to Google since then and I'm just wondering if there's any new insight. Thanks again.

Sorry, that was a 10-page post, not "1-page"

If you paste your site url in Goo, does Goo show some data?
If it does, at least Goo is incuding the site.
If not, you won't rank for the most part, if at all.

It takes longer than 2 months. I assume you want to be noticed by Google, are you submitting sitemaps? Are you linked to any established web sites? Depending upon the competiveness of your keywords, it could take a while to break into the results.
