Ive just found a site that talks to you at the checkout (or Im going nuts) just explains how long it will be to get the items, all very basic.

I thought this was a good idea, does anyone else?

I use this kind of technology on my site and it saves me a lot of customer support time and is very effective. The service I use is called "Sitepal".

With sitepal you can configure it with anyones voice, including a human or computer.

The only main problem with Sitepal, is with the cost. It is not for small businesses. It ussually average about $10 US a month for a bare bones pack.
