But serious, I don't know if you should classify that based on $$$ income. I usually look at other stats such as Web traffic, Google PR, etc.
My business is small right now. I do about $250,000 in sales (not profit) a year. That allowed my husband to quit his job to take over the shipping, and I also have a part-time guy who helps in the warehouse. When we go on vacation, the business basically shuts down. People can place orders, but nothing ships.
I'll be medium-sized when we get closer to 1 million a year, and I can take off 2 or 3 weeks at a time while the business runs as usual.
I'm guessing about a mil and a half would be large, but only if I can have nothing to do with the day to day running without losing business.
I don't think my oldest business will ever grow above "medium" in terms of sales, but if my newest venture goes as planned, I should be at "large" in the next couple years.
I guess the numbers will be different for every business, but I'd also like to hear what others think, and how they categorize their own business.
