Class action against Visa / Mastercard for theft of services

Should this be done

Like many on this forum I have had problems with fradulent claims for chargebacks. We sell an intangible, custom product that is emailed to our clients once completed.

We get more chargebacks then I want to see, and our MSP has taken the opportunity to freeze our account, even though I've emailed them copies of the papers emailed to the customers.

Anyway, it seems to me that Visa / Mastercard et al. are fully aware that of each of the chargebacks that goes against a merchant, and especially an online merchant, there is a percentage that are completely bogus, and probably a fairly significant percentage at that.

In my estimation they are participating in theft of service along with their customers at the considerable expense of online merchants.

A class action lawsuit filed against the credit card companies and perhaps a few select merchant service providers could induce them to change their ways, or not.

Any thoughts on this?

It may be prudent to see how this suit [webmasterworld.com] turns out...

I drove up to an amusement park last week and saw a huge billboard "we no longer accept visa/mastercard due to their consumer fraud policies"

Good for them. Maybe that is what it will take.

That was an awesome article, I'm going to be speaking to my 'MSP' on Monday about this, and bring this up.
