Hi all,

I'm new to this ecommerce thing and need a way of taking credit card transactions for around £20 a time. I came across Nochex and wondered if anyone has had experience (good or bad) with them?

Thanks all

I've been using them for two years, and always found them excellent - the only problem I have is with persuading people to use it!

Hi there, thnkas for the reply!

When you say "persuading people to use it" is that because of the name or just that its not as well knows as Paytpal etc?

I don't know the reasons why, but as a guess I'd say that it is because they are not familiar with it.
When I first started, we didn't get many paypal payments for a similar reason, now around a quarter of our orders are paid for with Paypal. It's just a matter of people getting to know what it's about.
It is used on Ebay quite a bit, but has yet to take off outside of that community as far as I am aware.
Shame, because it is very good. Natwest Fastpay is similar in that it's very good but most people don't know about it (yet!).

If I remember correctly, it takes a few fays to setup a Nochex account. For this reason, I don't think its any good for immediate purchases. I'm sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong about this!

I use it on eBay occasionally however and it's pretty good. Less of a ripoff than Paypal.

Good point Numpty.

The service I will be selling is something that a user will probobly only want once so it wouldnt be worth them registering with NOCHEX just for 1 transaction.

I don't think you need to register now...depends on the status of the seller.
We can accept nochex from non-nochex members.
