Will this get me banned?

I instituted a measure to keep people out of site files, but...

Ok,

So today I noticed some prying eyes had been meandering through my /Templates/ and /Library/ folders of a site. To keep people out of these folders I put in an index.html file that redirects them to f--ckyou.com (for a little humor bonus).

My question is this. Will any of the SEs pick up these files and deem me an adult site or mess with my rankings in any way?

Aaronjf,

There are other ways that you can keep people out of your files and folders besides redirecting them to a page. I know for one, if I was redirected to that page that you created, it would only make me work harder to get into those files and folders.

Instead, you can make these pages and folders only available to users coming from a certain IP (yours).

Try to make these files and folders more secure.

Yep, agerhearts suggestion seems more sensible

perhaps you could throw all the contents into a database and password protect it too

OK, so I am a newb. How do I instituet the measure you all are talking about.

The files I am protecting are of no real value. If someone did DL those files they would really be wasting their own time. They are just Library items and Templates that I created for the site. However, as I stated before I am interested in knowing how to protect files for future use.

Although, for curiosities sake. No one has answered my original question

<meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow">? I redirected some malicious visitors by ip address to pages made specifically for them and didn't particularly want SEs indexing them. Just incidental, but one page included an SWF that emulated a file download - then browser crashing hell.

Just use an htaccess file to protect the dir and only allow your domain to access those files. Hotlinking script will work... for get the Fyou page as that just makes them more determined to get in.

USing this will stop the SE's from spidering the pages as well so that will not be a big deal... Don't think you will get banned if the dir are protected with htaccess
