hi i own a static website and want to add a shopping cart to accept orders via the net.
I really need your help ive spent thousands $$$ on bad web developments and bad advice over 3 years. I just cant seem to get a truthful answer from anyone.

What i need is a shopping cart to attach to my static site, all i want the cart to do is add products and forward to checkout( verisign/Payflow Link payment gateway)has to be compatible.... so i want to add dynamic buy now and add to cart buttons from the cart to static pages. is this possible?

Also i need the cart to be able to checkout without creating an account like os commerce does... or at least give the customer the option of quick checkout or create an account?

The main thing is I also really want the best admin backend for this cart with great stats ect... but i dont need the catagoue edit options in admin as my site pages will be static. Ive use oscommerce and it has a great back end but it seem quite unstable at times with really bad coding. And i want a clean coded cart and admin where i can delete the feature like add products ect. as i dont need thse feature.

I just need a cart with the best back end, and that can connect to my payment gateway and my static website

Dose anyone out their know a shopping cart with the with these kind of feature or should i get a programmer to build a similar cart?

Thank you

The only server-based cart that I know which can do this is litecommerce.

Otherwise you would have to look at 3rd party hosted carts such as Mals, 1shoppingcart and Americart.

Mal's is pretty good for this, though it lacks some of the more sophisticated features of more robust systems. Mal's is dirt cheap though (free or $6/month, depending on features needed.)

I looked at Litecommerce, but found it way too crude for anything that required product options.

Take a look at your virtual store.
Sounds like it will do everything you want, and the support is excellent.

thanks guys but i still really dont even know if what i want to do is possible. i do have an existing ecomm site www.australianaura.com ....which uses oscommerce cart .
It has static pages and dynamic duplicate pages running behind the static pages.... i dont want this for my new site i want total static pages with buy now dynamic button leading to database driven cart ...one developer suggested just putting buy now links into static page directly to (verisign payflow payment gateway)... which would be fine but i really need a backend and database to run a newsletter/ site stats/cusomers list/ printable postage address module ect ... i like oscommerce but dont know if os will work like this also i would have to delte from the bakend adminof oscommerce all the feature to do with the catalogue ect... as i wont need them as all pages are static with dynamic buy now buttons.
Can any cart work like this without wrecking the code?
Or is ther any backend solution for covering these admin feature tha will plug into my site somehow.
or would it be better to get a backend solution custom made for this application?
Thanks for your feedback so far guys i really apriciate it Geoff

Have you looked at the oscommerce support site under "contributions"? I believe I have seen payment modules that will do exactly what you want. (integrates with your existing oscommerce site)

It has static pages and dynamic duplicate pages running behind the static pages

I don't quite understand why you have done this. Whats the problem with running oscommerce in normal mode with dynamic pages?

To improve my google raking
static pages get ranked higher so im told.

I really think this is my best possible chance of ranking high dont you think?

You have been told wrong. Google handles dynamic pages just fine - thats a myth now.

Have you tended to things like dynamic page titles etc for your products pages?

You can also remove some of the unecessary info boxes from the left column or move them to the right column if your running a pretty standard oscommerce to bring your text higher into the page code.

Another advantage with dynamic is that googlebot is a lot more aggressive as the filesizes are constantly changing.

Redlabel:
oscommerce is capable of delivering static-looking urls via mod_rewrite and a handful of configuration changes (domain/product_info.php?products_id=1 is displayed and handled as domain/product_info.php/products_id/1, likewise with any url parameters). oscommerce mod_rewrite integration [forums.oscommerce.com]

Note that after this was written some contributions appeared which do similar - many people have linked to these later in the thread (I have not used any of them but the method I authored is both clunky and very manual so I would not be opposed to them).

Redlabel, take a look at ecommerce tempaltes it allows for static pages. You can lay your design on top of the cart. It intergrates with your payment provider, offers online admin for products and orders. Optional customer login feature.
