I tend to use the auctions the other way round - sell stuff that I can't sell off my website + a few loss leaders thrown in - if you are really struggling, let it go for nothing on Ebay and move on to something else more profitable

Im currently using ebay to get rid of gear I cant sell else where.

Where I am people who want to sell at "car boot sales" have to be registered "antique" or "brocante" businesses with mandatory automatic "health /retirement" insurance contributions of around 5000 to 6000 $ ( paid yearly "up front" at the time of registration ) ....
Trading at a "car boot sale" without doing this "up front" is a criminal offence ( with all that "criminal" entails as possible consequences ).....

So after it doesn't sell on ebay the alternative is "small ads" in the local newspaper ...however if you do too many ( more than about 2 per month ) of these ..you may be considered to be in business as one of the above and it all applies again ...

BTW ..if you don't pay they can seize your house / bank account etc ....

Each town or village can ..if the mayor decides to "authorise "non registered people from that town or village to sell their stuff like at a car boot sale ...on 2 days during any one year ...

Most people just give up and take it to the "dump" ....where the guys that work there sort out all the good stuff and via their mobiles phone the local "dealers" who come out and pay them cash for it and then they resell it via their businesses .....

the fact that they do this is illegal ..however spotting a perfect 19th century farm table in oak being "dumped" by the car before you and actually asking its owner if he'd like to "deal" with you ..can get you into fist fights with the city hall employees who consider that you are on their turf ....once its in the gate its theirs ..even if its still in your car!

Cute huh?

Interesting, Leosghost.

So it's ebay or nothing (as far as selling it online goes)?

If you can't sell it on ebay, it's because no one freakin wants it. Heh :) Throw it away, man.

There's other auction sites you might try, like auctions.yahoo.com and auctions.amazon.com

Ebay's not the only one... :)

Those 2 are probably your best bet though, after ebay.
