I got an order from email asking if I ship to Nigeria, she said she's from Lego Intl. It is a pretty long list of what she needed, I sell apparels btw. So I checked and told her the actual cost. She then emailed me the credit card number and address.

Now i'm starting to think this is a scam. I have read a few threads here regarding orders from Nigeria. I am no racist but it looks like 100% of the orders originating there are bogus...

I'm not gonna ship and risk loosing a customer.. I guess my question is... is this the right thing to do? Im new to e-commerce so im green at this.. thanks

camflan, I don't think its too accurate as I put my UK Capital One card in and it came up with a totally different name and have it registered in the USA.

Camflan, did you leave off the first digit & enter the next 6 digits?

As I said I dont know how accurate it is but for example if I put my the first 6 digits of my card it comes back with the correct details.

Should only be used as an indicator probably rather than as gospel.

Thanks,

Well put in digits 2-6, not digits 1-6 (the first 6). That was what I was asking. The first digit only represents the type of card.

If it is accurate - that would be interesting. I had one site but I cannot find it now. The BINs are always changing due to new ones being issues, acquisitions, etc.

Not sure why you would only put the first 4 in when it says put the first 6.

You are right though about the fact it is probably outdated.

As I said, it works for my card. Probably not for newer cards though.

Cheers,
Cam

Not the first 4.

Let's say you card number is 4420 6980 0000 0000 - you would enter 420698 (digits 2-6) - so that is six digits.

This is definetely a scam. No one in there right mind would send a credit card number over email. I checked with Lego, and they do not operate in Nigeria.
