Hi...

Would any experienced e-commerce people out there used to calculate e-commerce cost in average during planning? (Especially, costs on payment gateway Vs. own SSL in monthly)

Please share with me.

Thanks,

David :)

Most 3rd party payment gateway cost only a couple hundred dollars to setup and an SSL cert cost about 100 to 300USD (one time only) depending on which company you choose.

The most it will cost you will probably be the development of the website itself. Some people code it themself some use templates. It all depends on your budget.

Thanks for your answer.

I'd like to ask further:

Which one is better between using Payment Gateway (PayPal, Authorize.net, etc.) and SSL (Verisign, Thawte, etc.)?

Would any experienced people give me detail comparison in terms of monthly fee, setup fee, quality, and so on?

Thanks in advance for your kindness.

David :)

All of them are good and it also depends on your budget and requirement. If you are a starter then I would recommend to find an authorize.net reseller which can provide both merchant account and payment gateway alongwith SSL.
