Can you help with a shopping cart solution please?

Here's what I need:

An easy to use interface so client can update products and information

Paypal checkout

customer has a small budget so I would need a solution reasonably priced. We wanted to avoid using her merchant account so we'll either take orders via email or paypal.

Any suggestions?

Not too sure what language you are wanting, but you can check out www.oscommerce.com for PHP. For ASP, www.spidersales.com or www.vpasp.com. I also have a much smaller ASP shopping cart that I can send over to you as well. But it does do size / colors.

Is oscommerce pretty user friendly? I'm not really a programmer so I'm losing for a pretty simple solution.

Yes, OSCommerce is simple to use. All shopping carts require you to spend a little time learning the admin interface, but I have found OSCommerce to be quite intuitive. I believe you can find a demo on their site. You should try it out to see what you think.

(I have recently started migrating my MIVA shopping carts over to OSCommerce and have been very pleased with the results)

And another option, check out the Paypal shopping cart as well. I am not a PHP programmer or anything but I do hear a lot of great things about osCommerce.

perhaps I should have been more specific. Is the oscommerce software eeasy to configure from a design aspect?

OS commerce is not easy to use at all if you are a non-programmer. Cubecart, which appears to be a clone is the easiest cart I have seen so far, although you may find its features limiting. Both OS commerce and cubecart are available from web hosters offering the fantastico panel. I use litecommerce and it is quite easy to get used to.

I have been using [CommerceSQL.com...] It is free and for $50 you can sign up for access to a Membership BBS that provides many hacks/solutions for enhancements.

It uses MYSQL/Perl. It intergrates with PayPal and other credit card services. You can also set it up to be offline and just email you the order request.

I have used it for several sites and have been able to customize the look of each web site to fit the desired look that is wanted/needed.

Another one you may want to look into is ecommerce templates easy to change colors/layout and feature packed. I have used both oscommerce and ecommerce and as far as design changes ecommerce is without a doubt the easiest you can change theirs or use your own. They offer a demo of both the site and admin.

Yahoo seems to charge a lot, especially if you use their gateway to process the payments. They are charging you .5-1.5% on top of your processing fees from your credit card processor.
