...Internet betting sites are being targeted by organized crime gangs that are threatening to shut down the site before the Super Bowl, potentially costing the sites millions in lost revenue.

According to a Reuters report, the organized crime groups are threatening to unleash a crippling "denial of service" attack unless the sites pay a protection fee.

Britain's National Hi-Tech Crime Unit is looking into a series of attacks and threats of attacks on companies in the United Kingdom. But sites based in the Caribbean and continental Europe have also been targeted."
