Hi guys and girls,

I have had the same .co.uk site for nearly two years now. I really like the domain name and a few months ago I bought the .com version. I paid a lot of money for this and intended to use it selling the same products but for the US market, including prices in $ as opposed to £.

I have since been doing some research (on WW) and have realised that this may not be such a good idea since the SE may consider it duplicate content. I have changed various things such as US spelling and little bits here and there. But to be honest it is still very similar to the UK site.

Furthermore I setup a US overture account about a month ago and whilst my keywords were very targeted and good (if I do say so myself), the response was terrible. Over 300 clicks and not one single purchase. This led me to think that it's not such a great idea.

The thing is i paid a lot for this domain and want to use it. Do you have any advice with what I could do? I was thinking perhaps to not sell all the same products on both sites. Any suggestions welcome.

Regards,

Tim

Yep, change the content or block one of them from being indexed. You could use a robots.txt to mask off some of the content.

Yes good idea. I think I'll use a robot.txt file on the .com site until I decide what to do with it. Thanks.
