Does anyone here use? How do you find it ranking in the search engines?

I can't answer you but it's New Year's eve so I thought I'd pitch in.
I tried to use Actinic on two occassions, but it crashed our servers and I never really got to grips with it. That said, people used to love it because it generated lots of nice flat HTML pages... but I guess the code pretty well reaks of eCommerce so Google might not like it as much as it used to - then again, who can say what Google likes and doesn't like just now? It will be interesting to see if others find they are doing OK with Actinic sites at the moment.

Well, not exactly brilliant. I hate the limited control I have over the final page that is displayed to the viewer. You can set meta tags but even things like commas in the meta tags gets all screwed up. And who searches for "keyword1;%9:$@"keyword2? That did screw up my page rankings for a long time as I had gobbledogook page descriptions from hell and didn't realise it.
I'm too lazy to move over to something decent like early impact's Productcart as it'll mean re-doing a lot of work.
Oh, I almost forgot. The business version has support for databases. What a laugh. I have numerous problems updating Actinic from databases. And my database is all screwed up because I had to put a lot of disparate stuff (that I'd normally put in different tables) all in one massive table.
Oh, and do remember that in actinic template files if you include one of your webpages/menu/image (SSI) from an out-of-the-acatalog folder that you can't use a relative URL - you HAVE to use the full URL and DON'T forget to make it a https... that caused me no end of grief.

I believe it. Now I just have websites with things... then a "buy now" button that just does the credit card bit. But then I don't have anything with 100s of products - except holidayts where I am even more limited than with Actinic.
I wouldn't despair - I am sure I have seen people say they do well on engines using Actinic here in WebmasterWorld - can't recall if they were on their 3rd posting or 3,000th mind.
