Ok I am trying to get my head around how to go about doing this. First we have an SSL and a merchant account. In the past we have accepted cc payments and processed them manually. This was acceptable because the amounts were fairly large, however we are now offering a different service and the amount will be low (like $10) and processing them manually is no longer an option.

I have looked into options like iBill etc. but we want any 3rd party processing to be transparent to the user. (Not trying to hide anything just dont want to confuse the user) As far as I can tell iBill is not "transparent", but I could be wrong(I am finding it difficult, on most of these sites, to sort through the 'sales pitch' to get to the information I want but thats another story ;)).

Basically what I need to do is:
- Verify the credit card when user submits form from my site
- Have this verification returned to me and (ideally) have the transaction processed.
- User would then receive our confirmation page if cc is authorized

Anyway I am just looking for some advice on how to approach this problem, Im sorta new to this merchant account and credit card thing :), any help would be appreciated.

worldpay seems like the ideal solution, not sure how big they are in your part of the world.

Since you already have a merchant account, your first step should be to contact that provider (assuming you're satisfied with their service) and ask them if they have any solutions (or recommendations) for accepting credit cards online -- some sort of virtual terminal or gateway.

I've always used AuthorizeNet. Invisible (using what they call the "AIM" method).

if you need alternative CC processing we use 2000charge.com

there have EU Debit Korean and some other strange Credit cards
which is always fun to have you never know some maybe use them ;-)

Thanks all, I think we are going to go with authorize.net they seem to do everything we need.

Are authorize.net prices the same, regardless of the reseller you use?

If not, what is the lowest price you've seen?

No, resellers mark up the cost so each reseller is different. For example I've seen visa/mc discount rates vary from 2.4% to 2.6%, the per transaction charges from $0.25 to $0.30, and setup fees from $200 to $1200.
