However, the launch of a new service from Google next year may put an end to the need to buy a guaranteed spot on search engines.....This will reduce the opportunity for e-tailers with money to jump to the top of the results pile for a keyword search.

Misinformed. Guranteed spot on Google? They are confusing with SERPS. And even froogle has Adwords :)

The spike is welcome - but it is not going to break the server though - 56 uniques from the BBC so far... almost all you lot I bet :)
