Some orders are now coming through.

5 hours downtime - not good

I am surprised nobody else on WebmasterWorld has noticed

I don't seem to have been affected at all, maybe that was just sheer luck. Orders coming in OK and I can login etc.

No, I don't seem to have been affected either.

Since their last downtime I have re-organised my site. I can flick to another merchant account or PayPal (in a real emergency) should this ever happen again.

Just need to change one variable $worldpay = 1 to $worldpay = 0 and re-upload the basket.

Emergency situations need to be thought of, and like you, I only thought of this after the event.

No, not a hacking attack.

It was a system error at WP.

Well worth checking for incomplete orders/abandoned baskets between 5am and 10am. According to WP it affected everyone.

It will almost certainly be another compensation payout.

Well at least WorldPay have the decency to let you know that there is a problem, unlike another well known payment provider. ;-)

They probably learnt after last time, when Silicon.com ended up telling their clients about the dos attack before they did!
