Is it really necessary

I have a website that utilizes XML and I am an Amazon.com associate. My understanding is that I have to display something like "powered by amazon.com" on my index page. I dont want to do this. I feel that it takes away from the uniqueness of my site and that is one of the reasons I am using XML. I have no objection to having information about amazon further along in the booking process, but I dont want them on my index page. Am I pretty much up the creek or does anyone have any ideas, alternatives, etc? Thanks!

Powered by google will put a lot more bucks in your pocket than amazon :)

I use xml templates, and I don't have any such statement on my index page (index.htm), nor have I ever heard of such a requirement. (I read the Amazon Associates discussion board every day.)

When the xml template is called up, I have my site name at the top left, and on the next line: "in association with Amazon.com". I believe that that adds credibility.

My template is designed to echo the design of my website, while also using many Amazon.com cues, such as the yellow & blue buy buttons and the stars on reader reviews.

It has to be clearly visible that you're an associate. A statement at the bottom of each page should be ok. For example "We are an Amazon affiliate" in font size 1 is enough.

I just tried to lookup the part from the Operating agreement, but I couldn't find it anymore. However, it was necessary about 6 weeks ago when amazon contacted us to make more visible for users.
