Abandoned Shopping Carts

what is your rate of abandoned carts?

I manage a large e-comm site and i would love to find out what is the average rate of abandoned carts for others in our industry?

We are running at just over 50%.
Is this normal?

From what I've seen, 50% is right in line for some sites. There are different types of carts that can get a bit more info upfront that have lower abandon rates. Those that start with getting some PII (even just an email), have vastly lower abandon rates.
Often, people will take the cart links just to see what info is below the link.

We designed our own cart so we are stuck with it unless we decide to spend a whole pile of cash on more code writing.

The abandoned carts really do not cause any problems, we were just wondering.
