These media kits were given to us to promote their products on the web. What I was given was cd's full of .tiff's, Excel spreadsheets that resembled a word .doc's, etc. One vendor even gave me a PRINTOUT of their products (approx. 60 pages-single lines)....for the web!
Perhaps I'm lazy, but the idea that I would need to spend hours upon hours just making sense of their "media kit for the web" is just silly. The vendor above who gave the printout, when asked to provide a spreadsheet of applications, pointed us to their "website"...which was worse than the printout.
A fake example of one mfg's cell b3:
<<Fo rit to work: *r1(footnote) and so it cant sever. 75+ the other end. Don't call this one the one, it makes *r7 (footnte) for the abover. Next have theaddition below. Not for green.>>
No, this wasn't a foreign language, nor even a translation....just a pathetic .xls. Other cells were just as pathetic.
Who is in charge of this? Don't they realize THIS kind of garbage is what their customers (us) see?
What will it take to get manufacturers to get it together and put together a Media Kit that works for the web?
OR
Is this just the 'edge' that savvy webmasters take advantage of?
