Secure checkout url issues

Hi I am setting up my first website with the help of a great SEO and webdesigner team. One issue we have run into is the the url for my secure checkout changes.
In other words people are surfing on [mysite.com,...] but when they go to the secure area to checkout the url changes to [mylocalserver...]

I would like my secure checkout to be [mysite.com...]

Has anyone else had this issue?

Doesn't matter for SEO...those dynamic pages aren't going to be spidered anyway. Makes no difference if the cart goes to a different server during the checkout process.

Any differing views from anyone else?

Agreed, I am not so concerned about SEO. I am more concerned with trust and user acceptance. I don't like the idea of the URL changing when it comes time to pay. People might get nervous not know where they are sending their money. Much better for the shopper to easily know what website they are on.

Has anyone else had this issue?

We moved one of our sites from a shared SSL to our own cert. We expected sales to go up a bit (based on nothing more than a hunch), but sales were not really affected.

Our site keeps the same look/layout throughout the entire order process, so maybe users never even noticed that they were not on the same domain... also, we educate the customer about a secure server and instruct them to look for the lock and/or the beginning https. This may also help them to feel more comfortable. In fact, one time a customer emailed us to let us know that one product did not have the https... sure enough, we had goofed 1 product up. We fixed it and gave that customer some little free gift.

So just to confirm. Did you go from having your domain change at checkout to not having it change after using your own cert?
