I have 2 well indexed miva stores and although I am awaiting on them to spidered they are good exaples of how you can configure miva. I have seen from the listings there is a lot of confusion amongst users as to what miva can and cannot do. I will answer any questions that anyone has on miva should they wish to ask. I will also recommend a good source of answers if I cant help.

Hey, Bill, glad to see a Miva pro posting here. While you can't post your site URLs here under the TOS, please feel free to share some of your techniques to make the Miva URLs more spiderable. "Out of the box" Miva seems to create fairly long query strings and offer relatively poor control of header content and page structure.

Bill,

Welcome. You are right about the lack of clear information about MIVA. Many of the threads just fade into silence.

OK. Let's begin.
What are the critical changes you would suggest making to the set up that comes "out of the box"?

Out of the box changes, I would not make any. Miva is a very good cart and can requires quite a bit of developing, in some case there is none, but once you are there it is excellent. www.1north.co.uk is almost out of the box, with only a little tweak here and there. As for SEO that is a differnt ball game all togeather. I can give you miva sites with 20000+ products that come no 1 on google. I can also help you contact people that know what they ae talking about. The major problem with miva is that it is resource hungry, therefor the wrong hosting company and you are in **** street. My store cost me about $800.00 (£1300.00) in bits and pieces and about a further 250 Hours @ $22.00 (£16.00) or $5000 / £3000.00 puting it all together. so at about $6000.00 / £4000.00 I have an online store making sales, processing and fulfilling all my needs. Where could I buy what I have out of a box for that price. I couldn't.

I can now make global changes to my store in minutes, maintenance is simple. But the only reason for this is time.
