switching CC processor....

... and losing Discover - is it worth it?

I am about to switch to a different CC processor, that is in every respect better than my current one except that it doesn't accept Discover. Currently 5% of my orders are done via Discover card, which is too high of a percentage to simply toss away.
However, I was wondering what % of customers I would really be losing (that is - how many of them would simply use MC/Visa after seeing that Discover is not available?)
Any ideas?

Why throw away Discover? Their merchant rate is the lowest; you want to encourage customers to use it. You can always get an account with them direct.

Assuming you are in the US, why can't they do Discover.

Discover is just like Amex - you get a seperate account through them (as you already know) and 'hook it' to your credit card processor.

Again assuming you are in the US, I'd be very wary of any processor NOT set up to accept all the major cards.
