Hi, have any merchants tried BizRate or Epinions to store "customer reviews" about you? Does the customer need to register with either services? Has it helped your sales, you think? (Assuming you have happy customers ;) )

In my experiences after the surfer has purchased something they got to that point and wanted to go with the people so feedback would be positive if they took the time. I never see the feedback before Im finished purchasing.

i think i filled out only one of those surveys because they wanted to give me a free tv or something :P Needless to say I didnt get what the incentive prize was. :D

My thought was that if a company has enough numbers and a positive review percentage, new customers will feel comfortable in thinking, "hey this company is trustworthy!" Same line of thought really as eBay's feedback concept.

I think that using these customer rating services will only benefit your site, as long as you work efficiently and get orders out on time etc.

I have used them before when I don't really know what to expect from a company. To see prvious customers give their feedback was very reassuring. I would imagine placing a link to your comments on Epinions or Bizrate would really help to sway those who are less confident and would then help to bolster sales.

When I bought INK yesterday I went with the one with a good rating by the bizrate and the good price. :)

I signed up for Bizrate when they were fairly new. After 2 full years of sending our customers to them to submit reviews (which they got to use for their own statistics) my small shop finally got a gold rating and were allowed to see the customer comments and have a rating card listed. For about a MONTH my business had an excellent report card with them to which I could link to for our customers to see. Then the link just stopped working, no one was able to access the reports anymore, and we went invisible as far as Bizrate was concerned. I spent months trying to contact someone there about it, by every email address and phone number I could dig up. I received NO RESPONSE and finally took down the link to send customers to them.
