Need a basic shopping cart

I'm hand-coding my eCommerce site so that has exactly the look and feel that I want it to.

I'm struggling though, to find a shopping cart that integrates cleanly without trying to dictate how the product pages have to work, or even worse, how the whole site has to work.

I've looked at Miva, and realize I could customize it to do what I want. However, the learning curve to customize Miva script is well beyond what I want to climb. I could pay someone to customize it for me, but I'd rather use that money for marketing than beating some piece of infrastructure technology into submission.

I've also looked at Mals cart, which is fairly close to what I'm actually looking for, but I'd be much happier with a cart solution that sat on my server completely under my control.

Any working with a basic cart that can be hooked seamlessly into a hand-built site and handle sales tax, shipping options, and links to payment gateways?

Not sure if you are using ASP / VBSCRIPT / ACCESS / SQL coding but if so you might want to check out:

[candypress.com...]

Very nice shopping cart and easy to mod.

You may also want to look at [ecommercetemplates.com...] they offer both ASP and PHP shopping carts. and a forum that you can scan to get an idea of what issues users may have.
