I own an undeveloped website. I was asked by a designer if I was going to develope this into a ecommerce site.
What does eCommerce mean? Please reply.

An ecommerce site basically is a website that makes transactions for goods or services. Amazon, ebay, and other sites that sell something that can be purchased on the web are ecommerce. "e" usually stands for electronic.
For you it would mean offering the possibility to you website visitors to buy you products or services directly from your website and you would then deliver it to them.
