Message Too Old, No Replies

Anyone else had lousy sales over last 2 weeks.

Sure it may be industry specific, but...

After very good June, July, and August (mainly) sales, my sales have slowed to a trickle in the last two weeks. My marketing strategy and web site design has stayed the same, my metrics are good, but sales suck!

Anyone else having a huge plunge?

PS my products are NOT summer related.

they may not be summer related but perhaps your customers are on the beach :-)

are there any correlations you can make about your typical customer ...

e.g. is it married couples with kids and school holidays?

ThomasAJ,
Relax, we're all down. August is slow on the streets and slow in ecom. And in the U.S. I'm sure the power outages and heat waves and virii have made many either unable to order on the web or more interested in hangin' by the pool. Since 1996 August has been one of the slowest times of the year for me.

Its the same story here pal, the kids went back to school yesterday after the 6 weeks holiday, so normal service shuould be resumed soon.

I have just looked at my figures from last August and things were the same then...summer slow down :)

Been trying to work out my 'typical US cust' for over 2 years now with moderate success and *he* is mainly middle aged from all walks of life.

You see I'm from down under so I don't exactly know what most male middled ageds do.

Are they focused on a new work year, no money after spending on family holidays, or what?

As I said before the north summer has been great until the last two weeks so I'm wondering if these two weeks are somehow different from the rest of summer.

Our business has been fine. But you'd think that virus blitz would take some toll. I held off an email newsletter due to the deluge. Didn't want our email to get lost amid the junk pile.

Late Aug is back to school time in the U.S.: good for some businesses but maybe bad for others. Normally it's a good time for most genernal merchandise stores.

-------
One thing I did notice was that signups for our email list plummeted with all the viruses. Guess people didn't want more email last week.

Our sales are down across the board. All of our online sales have gone way down the last 2 weeks, and a bunch of our e-commerce clients are reporting the same.

July was one of the best months. In August sales were almost cut in half. During and after the holiday weekend sales have been strong. I offer full color business card printing from my site.

Sales on my gift related site have been going down for the last couple of months through to July. August saw a 50% growth in turnover, volume of sales haven't increased dramatically, but people are spending more.

On my food / drink site sales have been steadily growing and peaked strongly during the first couple of days in September. I suspect the new school year and people returning from holidays to be the reason for this growth. Its really strange, I have had 78 unique visits since the start of September and have received 6 sales. And this site is only 2 months old.

In general, sales have been poor over the summer months, but it happens every year without fail. Now that Christmas is fast approaching, there will be a strong increase in sales.

Now all I have to do is finish the redesign of my main site, add new content to another, design sites for clients, keep up with ....... and on and on it goes :)

Our site was launched late June. We had quite an average August in all (compared to June/July). In the last 3 weeks the number of visitors to our site had doubled compared to our best time in July however 2 weeks ago we had a dreaded week of 0 orders!

Thankfully the orders have picked back up and yesterday I made a few changes to the product pages (now displays how many items are in stock and what the delivery time will be - in most cases it's 24 hours). As a result of this we had a record day for orders yesterday! So that was rather pleasing!

Sales still awful.

Are there any metrics by industry sector available anywhere. Both volume of searches and sales.

Number of sales down - value of sales up - trend since the start of this year.
