Hi Everyone.

I wonder if you can help. I've recently purchased a domain name I was looking to build a site onto and due to time limitations I havn't had time.

What is the best way to sell domains. I know of some auctions but this domain is very specific but VERY marketable and would not do well in the auctions.

Do you think its a good idea to email current website owners to offer the domain? I managed to snap this domain when it just expired ( about 20mins after ) and there is no what I can find better domain name available.

Thanks a bunch

Steve,

I assume its a generic .com domain name.

If so, then you may want to approach companies who you think it would be beneficial to.

Places like GreatDomains are old news these days, and the current economic climate is still slowing resales of domain names.

I have noticed places like GreatDomains arn't pulling much interest. The domain is generic it is like:

'Place'Online.org

Where 'Place' is somewhere in the world. I've got a gut feeling that this domain can sell for quite a substantial amount but I want to sell it right so I don't lose out. As you can see by the example it would be a directory or help/information site.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

A domain is "worth" a buyer is prepared to pay for it.

Having the placeOnline.org is NOT too much of a catchy domain.

sorry to be bearer of bad news.

If you want to sell a domain name you need to go to a domain name broker.

Trust me this one is. The place is a Major country.

Steve,

Not that I doubt you 1 bit, but I have been involved in many high value domain sales, and actively in the UK domain market for a few years.

I act as a broker, and am picking up domains for 10 - 15% of original asking price these days, and I am referring to 1 word generic .com domains with 1000s of daily type ins.

xcandyman,

Just seek out and approach companies that you think may be interested or hire someone else to do it. Like any domain, it's simply worth what someone will pay for it, nothing more, nothing less.
