Hi,

I've been monitoring a domain that expired 50 days ago at networksolutions. Yesterday when I made a whois it said that it was pointing back to the local database (or something like that) which I tought was a sign of networksolutions finally releasing it.

Today when I made a whois the following came up:

"No match for ******.COM

The previous information has been obtained either directly from the
registrant or a registrar of the domain name other than VeriSign.
VeriSign, therefore, does not guarantee its accuracy or completeness."

Does this mean that somebody else grabbed the domain before me - or is it still being hold by networksolutions?

Hi Matti, Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com].

"pointing back to the local database" Means the domain has been deregistered but not yet purged, which usually happens within a few days. Thus it was not then available for re-registration.

"No match for ******.COM" simply means the domain has been purged and is now available for registration.

If you want it then try and register it quick. If it is a desirable domain then someone else may be wanting it, or, if the previous site published on the domain was popular, then some companies may be wanting it to garnish the traffic.

Grab it, Quick!

Thanks

I've been trying to register it but all the registers say that it is unavailable. Thus my question - did I lose my opportunity or should I keep on trying to register it?

Maybe, maybe not. Just keep trying. Also try doing a whois on the domain until you get an answer. You could either use the whois of your If you see something like "This domain is available" get your credit card out immediately.

You could also try some of the backorder systems such as SnapNames, ExpireFish, or veren the Netsol system although, to be honest, if the drop is immenent you are probably a little late for them.

BTW, all the registrars have the same access to the information so, as far as I know, one is not necearily going to get access to the domain earlier than any other. This is not taking into account any backorder systems.

Goof Luck, let us know how you get on.

Yeah, I lost it. It was really strange, because the domain I wanted was a 13-letter swedish word, but it wasn't registered by a swede, it was registered by someone from Russia.

Thanks for your help. Although it would have been nice to have that domain, it doesn't matter a lot that I didn't get it.
