Hi all

I found a domain name and hosting company offering a deal to web designers that they will provide free domain names and hosting for sites if the designer does the site for free.

Then both parties take a profit share.

ive emailed them for more info, but id like to know if anyone has come across an offer like this before and if there are any possible pitfalls with it.

Im not going to touch it if i cant retain ownership and control of the sites i design, but on the whole it seems not too bad an idea.

Any thoughts?

Then both parties take a profit share.

I'll offer you that... domains cost what £5 .co.uk for two years hosting fee's runs to what on average £60 - £120 pa. (psst we have our own servers and fibreline)

HOW MUCH TO DESIGN A SITE !

The work and time involved in creating a site way out ranks the costs for domain/hosting.

:)

I see your point in that respect.

I suppose tho, it also depends on the site itself, how much money it will make and what the profit split is.

Ah, much thought is needed on this one!

DOH!

A one page web site doesn't sound like too much work... equal services rendered. :)

of course if the company provided both products to sell and content, then it could be a useful deal...

Single page

10 steps to getting your site to number 1.
10 links to webmasterworld threads.

Some sort of banner ad that pays per impression.

Youd make a fortune.

fathom - what if it comes to 100 one page sites.... regardless of what they might reap in afterwards - you'd want to see some food on your table for all that hard work, no?

If you throw in a nice web based admin system for adding products, directory listings and perhaps developing some user generated content system, then you have a deal! ;)

Thats pretty reasonable for getting a site from a marketing grad with skill for content writing!

:)
