Are netsol, like, an official domain name type org, or do they just run around buying up domains for resale?

Half the time when I do a whois search for a domain name, it comes back that it is not available - but who owns it - netsol.

'scuse my ignorance on this issue cos i really feel i should already know the answer to this question! :)

Netsol (Network Solutions) used to be one of the only places you could buy a .com .net .org ,I think they are still retain the largest % of domains registered, but they are losing ground rapidly due to the high prices and customer services (not to mention spam)

Netsol is now owned by Versign. ( But the prices and practices are just the same)

Is netsol listed as the Administrative Contact? They are a ICANN-Accredited Registrar. That means they can register your domain. They are Network Solutions which use to be the only game in town. I have not heard of them reselling domains, but I wouldn't put it past them.

its just the way the domain is listed on whois (i use a search box on my hosting services site and usually get a "hooray" or a "doh!" depending whether or not the domain is available.)

Its always a "doh!" when netsol are listed as contact.

I assumed that they have bought the domain in order to re-sell it. Is this not the case then?
