Hi All,

I'm not sure if it was covered here, so excuse my ignorance.

The statement of the problem:

I have several domains with InterNIC (NetworSolutions, NetSol, etc) I'm also an RSP at OpenSRS. Naturally, a domain year is cheaper at OpenSRS, than at InterNIC. Recentely I received an invoice from them "suggesting" (=insisting) on paying them in advance for the domain. I went to OpenSRS, submitted transfer request, received transfer confirmation email, confirmed the transfer and ... in several hours I received a letter form OpenSRS saying, that:

//-------
The current registrar for the XXX.XXX domain name rejected the transfer request you submitted. Pursuant to established Verisign Registry procedures, the transfer is declined.

Please contact the current registrar listed above for a further explanation of the rejection.
//-------

As all of the domain only expire on the 30th of September, this makes me a bit uneasy - do I owe InterNIC something?! Why can't I transfer domains that are paid in full and are kind of my property for now?!

Could you shed the light upon the situation, please? I couldn't find any mention at InterNIC about its established procedure. Also, I'm outside US and can't call their Toll Free number (do they have any?).

Thanks in advance

P.S. Indeed, when a domain is expired, I need to pay my invoice before I can transfer it - it happened once in the past, but now I have my service with them payed till the 30th of September and this drives me kind of mad...

Hi intervelopers,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld. I have heard of this problem several times. The only way I know of dealing with this is to give them a call. They can usually resolve the issue on the spot.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
Chris.

I've read if you are closer than 30 days to the expiration date...these guys kinda drag their feet.

My advice? Pay the extra year and THEN move it. It's worth the headaches that I've heard about.

If you renew then you have to wait another 60 days to transfer after they rip you off again. I just transferred a domain from NetSol to a Tucows reseller, only a few days before the expiration. Here's how it went:

I paid my people (who reply to emails by a human person within the hour) and the transfer request was submitted. I got an almost instantaneous confirmation email from OpenSRC, to which I responded.

NetSol sent their confirming email - autoresponder - to the original email address listed - over the holiday weekend. I just missed sending it back within the 72 hour limit from their autoresponder timestamp and it was denied. I sent them an email threatening action, which I would have done, just to establish a precedent - and to vent.

I corresponded with my reseller, who immediately submitted for me a second time. I responded to the OpenSRC comfirmation again and watched Hotmail HOURLY for the NetSol mail - which I replied to instantaneously, sending a CC to my registrar for documentation.

You have to respond to both right away, then there shouldn't be a problem. Mine expired on Sept. 9th, it got transferred on the 5th and I'm now free of NetSol.

The problem is that I did _not_ receive these autoresponder messages.

Should I resubmit the trasnfer request from OpenSRS or should I just call InterNIC?

I'd doublecheck that the email address is correct and call them to verify their records. There's still time but it should be done right away to resubmit the transfer request again.

Thanks for your input, Marcia

I did resubmit right away and now the process is over - the domains transferred OK.

I strongly suspect, that InterNIC has something to do with the fact that transfer confirmation letters did not come at first attempt.
