Hi all,

I was about to buy either only-keyword.com or just-keyword.com but then thought I should consider buy-keyword.com

buy-keyword.com has the word buy in it so I guess that would be good for my keywords for attracting ....er buyers, but is it also a put off?

I can tell you that anyone searching for the product will be looking to buy, it's not something that you'd 'have an interest in', at least most wouldn't.

What do you think?

So you wouldn't consider buy in the domain name a turn off?

Not if that's what people are doing.

Think of it this way...if you are actually selling things (and not giving them away for free), you don't necessarily WANT the visitors that are turned off by the concept of "buying."

In fact, it might be a really handy way to pre-screen your visitors even before they get to your web site. It might result in less overall visitors, but i would expect that your conversion rate would be higher.

Also keep in mind the branding of the domain. I still personally believe that the SEO impact of a keyword rich domain name does not outweigh the branding benefits of an easy to remember, relevant domain name.

Precisely ;)

Branding is not important to me really, it's an affiliate 'Type A' site that I want people to leave within 4-6 page views if possible.

Thanks everyone, I've bought it now ;)

I agree with thejenn - it's a good way to get people who are really looking to buy your products. When I want to buy a product, I am more likely to search for "buy product" rather than "only product" or "just keyword "

However, your first preference should be keyword.com in case it's available.

caine, why do you see it as a turnoff for search engines ?
