This the entire DNS entry:

Nameservers: No nameserver
Updated: 2002-May-13

THENAMEICHECKED.com
You have used the whois service 1 / 20

Well, it looks like that is the whois from a DOT TV domain. And it looks like the domain doesn't have a name server. Nothing too strange about it.

Except it's a .COM and there is no expiration date or registration date.

I have never seen the "You have used the whois service 1 / 20" except at "whois -h whois.tv www.tv". Are you sure you are using the right whois server for the right TLD? Are you doing a whois at the registry or the registrar?

I got that using coolwhois.com and whois.net .

Whois at the registar doesn't seem to be functioning.

Go directly to the registrar and use their whois interface.

Whois at the registar doesn't seem to be functioning:

500: ERROR PERFORMING YOUR REQUEST!

We encountered an error while processing your request. The incident has been logged and we will do our best to fix it. You may try your request again by hitting the reload button on your browser.

This occurs with any name I try to put in using their whois.

What is the registrar?

Registrar: TLDS, INC. DBA SRSPLUS

So, I assume it's [srsplus.com...]

SRSPlus has 56,429 domains and is ranked 39th in the world as an ICANN Registrar. The name servers they use are ns1.nic.tv and ns2.nic.tv, So it looks like they are powered by the dot.tv corporation (a Verisign Company).

I was able to get a result from their whois server. If you use [whoisreport.com...] you should be able to get your answer. But I am on 3/20 today so I only have 17 whois checks left.

Lisa,
According to your whois, the domain is avaliable. However, I wasn't able to register it with any of the registars I use. Does it mean it's in the purge cycle?

If you don't see the name in the results then it is on-hold or getting ready to purge. You can also force a whois lookup by just tacking the domain name on the end of my site like /domain.com

Thanks, hopefully it will get dropped soon.
