Adi,
I suggest you look at my Self Appraisal thread [webmasterworld.com]. You may be able to come up with a price from that.

We shy away from posts like:
What is the best hosting company?
Where is the cheapest place to buy something?

These type of threads allow people to tag team WebmasterWorld and self promote themselves. We have a strict policy against self-promotion because these boards are a great resource without everyone trying to use them to promote themselves. We can learn a lot more at WebmasterWorld without the fear commercial bombardment. :)

If someone has a good appraisal service they should sticky mail you directly.

Why hire an appraiser? How many people know more about site valuation than your fellow WMW members? Not many, I think.

Try this. Do a direct comparison:

Dr. Koop.com

900,000 monthly visitors
2 million registered users

Sales Price - $186,000

Name recognition - outstanding

Price per monthly visitor - $.20

Bottom line - if it is making money, keep it. If it is not making money, it is worth less than you think. Maybe a lot less.

thanks for your replies!

unfortunately, neither models may work for me because this was a raw, but generic domain name aimed at a specific industry. no webpage was ever developed to my knowledge, so there are no stats to check.

the name is long (26 letters - no dashes, no numbers), but entirely made up of three keywords bringing a top bid of over $2.00 at overture. the overture searches on this name were over 1400 for the month of june, and google estimates 1200 ads a day.

and i have had a couple of emails from interested parties.

is there a valuation model that might be more suitable for this situation?

thanks!
:)
