If I had a domain name that is, lets say for example, "majic.com" what are the ways I can compensate with search engines for people who mispell the word majik with the correct magic?

Only think I can thing of is use the correct spelling all over your site. But that would confuse people. You are in a tough spot.

Maybe you could brand your site: "Majic - Land of Magic"

Use that string as the full proper title. That would help out a little.

Thanks Lisa,

Would simply utilizing metatags with the correct spelling as a keywork work or is that a waste as well. Client with the crappy name has been in business for a long time under said crappy name so unfortunately changing is not an option. He has pointed out a couple of other interpretations his clients have had of his name as well. None of which are the real name.

Thanks again,
Mat

Just meta tags wouldn't do the trick. You need the real name inside the content as well. It is unfortunate that they want to be found with the real name in Search Engines but they want to use a miss-spelling for their company and domain name. 1 + 0 will never equal 2. I would tell them they are rowing up a creek with a twig for a paddle.

i strongly agree with lisa, but make sure that 2 or more words that support your domain are dicton'ry words.
for example
majic - the land of "MAGIC" - MAGIC is a dict'ry word.
so if anybody types "magic - land of magic" search engines like google will show "Did you mean majic - land of magic " at top..
