Greetings,
This is my first post here, so let me know if this isn't appropriate. I've been developing web sites professionally for the last 10 years and I've gathered a "portfolio" of around a hundred domain names that I manage and renew, mostly for clients.
A couple years ago, I moved everything under a single GoDaddy account because they had good prices and I used renewal coupons to get some good prices and make a buck or two when charging clients. Last year, I susbscribed to GoDaddy discount club at half price so I didn't have to hunt renewal coupons every time I would renew a domain name. Now, with Discount Club at full price, it's barely worth it.
I'm now looking for other options.
So far, I think going for a reseller plan is my best long term option. I'd like to know the opinion of people in a similar position (managing domain name for clients and charging them for it). If possible, I'd like a Canadian company, or at least an option with stable CAD prices.
So far, the most popular reseller options I see are: GoDaddy, eNom, OpenSRS.
My main issue is that they want to handle the billing for me and give me a commission. I'd prefer handling the billing/payments so I can charge taxes properly. Access to an API would also be great for future development on my own.
Any thoughts, recommendations here?
Thanks
Oli
