Nobody will know for certain if these new domains are any good until they have a few years of real world use. Personally I suspect that most will be a waste of money.

If you already own genericnamerocks.com then you may want to protect yourself by buying genericname.rocks.

It's cheap enough if you want it however I am in the ".rocks" industry and I won't be buying any, in fact I've been selling. IMHO there is absolutley no necessity for all these extensions.

How often do you see .biz, .info, .mobi, .travel, OR .coop addresses "in the SERPs"?

Like the new unlimited crop of gTLDs ^they^ all had a rationale for their existance or desirability AND their marketing teams.

I suspect the new gTLDs, with their unlimited potential, will have worse trajectories.

The dilution in gTLDs is getting insane. There's no way to market them and the only party getting rich are the domain registrars.
