I have a domain name for which I'm not going to be paying the hosting for now. And I had decided to point it to my other domain name w/ hosting.

Will parking a domain name get me in trouble with Google and other search engines? I wouldn't want to get banned or anything.

Also, when parking the domain, I'm not going to try to hide the fact that I'm doing it.

My reason for parking it would be in case, somebody goes through it(old domain), they could end up at my other page(on new domain) where I might have some info about my old domain.

I moved from a free URL that had been spidered by the main search engines that now redirects to my new site after 5 seconds.

It has a short message mentioning the change and a link to the new site.

Old URL's from the free domain remain listed in searche engines, and to date, I have not been penalised for doing this.

It should be ok. Using the reverse psychology you mentioned, your probably doing SE's a favour by stopping someone nicking the site and pointing to totally unrelated content
