Considering the important role that India-based domain companies and investors have played in the history of this business, it is somewhat surprising that the country has never hosted a major event centered around domain investors and developers.

Ron's comment sums up my sentiment: "It's about time".

It will interesting to see how it plays.

I suspect a number of players in the industry will attend simply because they can now write off their first trip to India as a travel expense. But, hey, that's . . business?

The bare minimum the Indian organizers could do is to have a correct Indian map.

From that angle, how can you tell? My first impression was that they'd left out all of Kashmir, but it's just the angle creating a sort of inverse-Mercator effect :)

Did the organizers get together and say "Anywhere but Bangalore"?

Webwork, it was definitely about time, as Ron stated. We pioneered Domain Name Owners Association of India™ in the country to bring people who love domain names under one platform. We felt that there should be something on the lines of major (North American) conferences that should also start happening in India and thus DOMAINX 2014 Conference shaped up.

14+ International & National Speakers have confirmed participation for the first ever domain name conference in India on 7th September in Hyderabad and more names to be announced in next few days.

This is going to be record breaking and path setting event in the Indian history with over 15+ speakers where you would be able to interact & network with the leading domain name industry experts. Current list of speakers are:

1. Adam Dicker (DNF.com & DNForum.com)
2. Michael Castello (CCiN.com)
3. Ron Jackson (DNJournal.com)
4. Karen J Bernstein (Bernstein IP Law Firm)
5. Deepak Daftari (Domain Name Investor, seller of Tie.com)
6. Michael Gilmour (ParkLogic.com)
7. W. David Snead (eCommerce, Copyright, Trademark, Licensing Attorney & Internet Law Counsel)
8. Pavan Duggal (Biggest Cyber Lawyer in India)
9. Morgan Linton (Domain Name Investor & MorganLinton.com)
10. Jon Yau (StockPhoto.com)

lucy24, thank you for your comment.

Our decision of choosing Hyderabad for the conference was purely based on our research, facts and findings. data in our hand shows strong foothold of domain name community in Southern India.

Just curious, are you based out of Bangalore?

Heh, no, it was just a wisecrack based on Bangalore's stereotypical position as The High-Tech Place ;) In fact I could see someone deliberately choosing a different venue for exactly that reason: "Hey, we use computers everywhere, not only Bangalore." Bonus points if you find a spot in rural Bihar.
