Claim on domain

I hope there are someone here who can help me a bit.
I have recently been contacted by someone who are involved with a charity with a name similar to my domain. And now they want to buy my domain, or if i refuse and i do, they say they will go trough WIPO in order to lay a claim on my domain.
Can it really be right that they can do that on a domain that are older then they are and are registered in a different country?
