domain redemption period date

when has a domain entered redemption period?

Is there a way to find the date that a .com domain entered redemption period status? I see how the "updated date" is exactly 40 days from the original expiration date but I've read that the auto-renew grace period can be up to 45 days depending on the registrar. The domain is currently in redemption period now and my understanding is that once entered into redemption status that 30 days, if not restored by registrar within that time frame, the domain would then enter "pending delete" status for 5 days before be released from that registrar.

I have read many post from this site and others talking about the process of deletion but this is one piece of information that I could not find about the process. If there is no way to tell exactly what day the "redemption period" started then that would explain why I haven't found any information about it.

Any help clearing this up for me would be much appreciated. :)

Interesting question and I'm not sure if there is since I usually try to calculate an approximate spread of dates when the name should become available and I have never had the same result.

A bit late, but there actually is a way.

As mentioned, redemption grace period or RGP is for 30 days. That starts from the "last
updated date" line in the domain's WHOIS.

If the domain's WHOIS showed the last updated date of, say, April 29, coupled with its
status now redemption period, then RGP started April 29. Count 30 days after that, and
so on and so forth.
