Price for some domain extensions going down

First of all good news for the .asia holders: I am currently in the middle east and noticed that I rank better for my keywords when I do a google search here VS in the US. (this may be obvious to many of you guys)

Secondly: I noticed the price of .asia and .tel renewals have gone down!
Is this because of lack of interest in these extensions?

Finally: I dont recommend buying domains for more than 1 year because I noticed I almost paid double the price/domains for a couple years in advance.

The .asia is going though a mini-Junk Dump (landrush anniversary) and it lost most of the gains it made since January 2010. It is still finding it difficult to get large numbers of registrations. The new .cn regulations may have a very slight impact on .asia in that there might be a very slight increase in .asia registrations. But it really will take a few years to develop. The .tel is also moving into its landrush anniversary and has been losing registrations for the last few weeks. Apart from the brand protection registrations, it is going to have a hard time holding on to the highly speculative registrations (keywords and terms that would be important in other gTLDs). I think that there may be more special offers to drive growth in these new gTLDs.
